Played the Old Course in April, 2011 (perfect weather)! You definitely need a caddy on the course as many holes crisscross from front to back nines and share common greens. An experience of a lifetime walking some of the same footsteps and fairways of the greatest golfers in history! If you're in Scotland you have to play the Old Course! The Old Tom Morris bridge on the 18th fairway was the location for my group of 18 to capture a memory of a lifetime!

Dreamlike atmosphere
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed June 7, 2019
A must for those who love golf. The visit to the "Home of Golf" will remain unforgettable, especially when at sunset on the 18th run of the Old Course the view across to the clubhouse and the surrounding town. Admittedly, the "old" places around the Old Course can not be compared with modern American-style designer facilities, but that's not the way to Scotland. And the Castle Course on the other side of the little town of St. Andrews completes the package of St. Andrews Links outstanding, as it is an incredibly varied, demanding dune course with beautiful views of the sea. In addition, the atmosphere is very uncomplicated and the local people are very friendly. We were fortunate enough to spontaneously get a tee time for the Old Course in the summer due to a breakdown. I never used a Caddy during the three stays in St. Andrews, the contact with the Greenkeepers and starters was always excellent and characterized by great friendliness and laxity. Conclusion: Nothing for "competition / and fast players", but something for connoisseurs who do not mind that you have to even share a double green with the oncoming flight. This short wait can then be used very well to get in touch with his traveling from all over the world flight partners of different skill levels and share his joy in this visit.

Old Course, Castle Course

The scenery and history is worth playing as a golfer once in a lifetime.
The first two and the last three holes are remembered because of the famous look, the rest is interchangeable, despite the dream weather.
Between 8 and 12 o'clock Zwangscaddies duty, if one does not want to carry.
These were under all S.!
Constantly chattering, disinterested and pushing on pace (the money machine has to run finally!) And false put lines I recognize myself!
Old Couse Place 3 * Scenerie 5 *
Castle Course: great place, great views, heavily cropped greens, moderate service (three-year-old pound notes were no longer accepted - you should go to the bank yourself!) The 5 * refer exclusively to the Castle Course. He does not quite reach for Kingsbarns, but probably only a few places in the world do that!
