Salinas GC December 2020 1 Review

No fairways - nightmarish condition!

Played 3 rounds from 21-24/12/2020 - last round today.
Course in in terrible condition, not suitable for golfing.
No grass in the most holes - absolutely wihout grass, just tussocs somewhere. Mosty trampled mud... slightly better 20-30 meters to green...
Greens looks maintened as the only part of course. No sand in bunkers, just dry mud - nobody care, nobody rake...
Greenfee 71 E is absolutely above understanding!!! Real value is something like 20 E. Buggy for 38 E is crowning fhis crazy story... broken seats, broken front glass - 3 times - every day the very same apology - “... sorry sir we have problems with material...” - no discount, just bullshit...
Never again.
Go to Fuerteventura GC - 3 km far from Salinas.

Maintainance to improve!!!

The fairways are really not good and the bunkers are not maintained at all. The sand is so hard that it is not playable. It is a really a shame because the design of this course is good, even if it is a short course. The rough is replaced by little volcanic stones. It is nice to see but unfortunately not playable. The play is slow and there is no control of handicap. The price of the green fee is ok and the people of the front desk very nice.

Arrogant

We are newcomers, playing since 4 month on different golf courses in Belgium, Germany and above all Mallorca and the Canary islands Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
Three days ago, we played in Fuerteventura Golf and were very satisfied with the friendly people at the reception and with the golf course.
The next day we wanted to play at Golf Club Salinas de Antigua and went to the reception to have some information and to make a T time.
Waauw!!! We entered the Pro shop/Reception. The lady was looking at Internet. Didn't even look at us when we were in front of her; did not say Hello. Nothing.
When I asked if I could have some information, she finally looked at us and answered with a very arrogant "Yes".
Stop, Schluss, Fini, Basta. We will spent our money on the Canaries in Costa Teguise, Tias and Fuerte Golf but surely NOT in Las Salinas.

Flatly located...

A well-maintained golf course, nice staff... cheaper price if you start later... not overcrowded...

but: you can see and hear airplanes over the golf course... few exciting holes...

Definitely worth a round

A very nice golf experience considering the climatic conditions. The place is exciting and you can see the sea from everywhere. You can also forgive the empty water hazards. Fairways and greens are absolutely ok. The restaurant afterwards offers delicious refreshments. There is no pro shop, but rental equipment and trolleys were available.

Still fun

We've been playing the course for about 10 years now and again and really like the course design. The course is very well adapted to its barren surroundings. A real Fuerteventura course, also because of its location: exposed to the wind, always overlooking the sea. The fairways were playable and the greens were in good condition. Overall still a nice place. Some of the water hazards, however, are very “empty”. Little water and therefore not so pretty to look at. All previous reports about the pro shop and the condition of the driving range are correct. Nevertheless, we would recommend the place. It is still worth a visit next to the Fuerteventura GC. We hope that the economic situation of the place will soon stabilize again.
By the way, very good restaurant in the clubhouse from 1 p.m.

Pity

I agree 100% with Othello 62. It's all right. There is only the toilet next to the office. Access is only from above, which means you have to go around the clubhouse every time. The light in the toilet was broken a year ago. I've been playing the course for ten years and it just kept getting worse.

Decreased very much

After we had played the course four times since 2018, we now had to realize that Corona has probably also left its mark here. While we used to be impressed by the staff in the secretariat and the greenkeepers, the remaining employees only partially distract from the bad condition. No pro shop, only limited opening hours at the restaurants. But the worst thing was that all the toilets on the course and also in the cart hall at the clubhouse were closed.
The safety nets were in the miserable condition they were years ago, the range balls were faded.
Unfortunately, we cannot recommend the place further.

The best on Fuerte

We were on Fuerte in November 2021 and played all 4 golf courses on the island. None of the four comes even close to the places on Tenerife and Gran Canaria. If you are planning a pure golf vacation on Fuerteventura, you should better reschedule.
The Salinas de Antigua Golf Club occupies just 1 out of 4 in our ranking.
The square has a much more interesting design than its neighbor. Hills to the left and right of the fairways make the course of the fairways easier to see and make the game more challenging.
The course is flat and easy to walk. You have a sea view from many lanes.
Bunker a bit better than the neighbor's but still not good. At least there are rakes here.
Good fairways and great greens.
Next tea lettering partly unclear.
The dry and foul-smelling lakes on the course were not very attractive, as were the broken nets of the driving range and the torn flags.
Here, too, you play under landing planes (the place is directly on the final approach).
Good restaurant “Algo Mas” on the square, but doesn't open until 1 p.m. and doesn't sell bocadillos for everyone.
The Pro Shop has been closed since Corona.
Even if we give this place 4 stars, these are only justified in comparison with the other places on the island. Internationally considered rather 2-3 stars.

Great club restaurant

2 stars for a) the great club restaurant "Algo Mas" with its fantastic food and b) the good greens, which in contrast to the place were very good and fast.

The course condition is unsightly, bald fairways and tees, hard bunkers - just a very bad course maintenance! Ponds without water and patched pond sheets - horrible to look at.
Fairways arranged poorly, sometimes you go on your own fairways to the next tee.
€ 65, - Green fee is far too expensive for this field

Place with defects

The fairways are hard and have little green, the greens are well maintained and very fast. In the ponds is little to no water, just looks bad. Every few minutes aircraft noise from arriving machines.
The staff are friendly and helpful.

Vacation Course

The welcome is always friendly and helpful. The other employees as starters are always courteous. The restaurant is well run and also makes special days with music.
The course is a real challenge with the hills and the numerous bunkers. The water hazards also require a precise game. The greens are good to play and relatively fast. Because of the drought on the island, the fairways are almost without grass and the ground hard.
Unfortunately, the maintenance is bad. Several ponds no longer have water because the films are broken. The slides are repeatedly, without success, patched and would have to be replaced. The nets at the Driving Ranch are completely broken and flutter in the wind. I play this place for years and unfortunately I have to say that it loses more and more due to the lack of maintenance.

Nice for the holidays

For late risers like us the place is ideal as it offers an afternoon rate where you can not say no. Can play well and the condition was now perfect in February. In fact, all 4 places on the island are very well maintained.
We will be back.

Nice vacation place

Wanted golfing in January. 4 euro taxi from the hotels away is the palm-covered square. Booked from Germany by mail the cheap Twilighttarif from 14.00 clock. In January and February it gets dark quickly and so it can not work in a slow game - of course, of the flights ahead at start at 15.00 clock times with a finished round.
If you look at the rugged lava area, then it is a great achievement to build a place of such quality.

I played for the first time in Spain and on an island and liked it a lot - but would not go back to Fuerteventura because of the golfing.

Best place in Fuerte

The front desk is always very friendly and well placed The place is very busy and it is worthwhile to book early tee times. The design of the course is varied and it has some holes where you have to consider how to play it. The wind is actually always a teammate. That is also the reason that there is little sand in the bunker. The ground hard and without much grass. The greens are not very fast but fair. The place is flat and easy to walk. The neighboring square at the Elba Palace is classified much more difficult, so that the guests can look forward to good results. Tee times are there, if you do not live in the hotel, almost impossible to get. I have played both of them several times and Salinas is better for me.

Beautiful Links Course

Besides the fairways instead of Rough each black Lavakiesel with cacti as decoration. The place is easy to do on foot. Wind plays through the open layout also an important role. In February fairways and greens were well maintained and the holes are varied. Who has the courage, the 11 allude directly.
The course fits my opinion very well to rather barren nature of the island. It does not always have everywhere with palm trees.
On the last day of our golf vacation we have done us the luxury of a buggy for 38 EUR. As supplied arrived vigorously!

Good alternative to neighboring space

Play Again, the recommendation from 14h in high season for Twilight tariff of 40 euros, spacious playing time guaranteed. Place is optically well adapted to the characteristics of the island, many waste areas with black sand. Undulating fairways, some links character. Fairways not as well maintained as next door, unfortunately the greens fall off, are still fast. Two water slides are very original, because they allow many ways to play.
If you're only in Caleta de Fuste, one is well served with two courses for 7-10 days.

Better than the place next door

Have played in February 2012 both places. Salinas has at least fro better maintained by the system and actually created beautiful than the neighboring campsite. You can see here but the handwriting of the course architect. The greens were very good and the least you could bunker play. Interfere with doing only the miserable huts built with a 90% vacancy at the edge. And that will probably not change in the coming years. We had very nice weather and this has reconciled us back then.

The really little brother of the Fuerteventura Golf Club

The club is located in close proximity to the Fuerteventura Golf Club, but profit margins can not hold a candle to him.
The place is in total very short (even by white is the average Par4 only as to the 320m long). Since this is a large quasi Freiflaeche, a large part is cost. This is certainly a matter of taste - I do not like it when I can see many of the neighboring golf courses. The many tall palm trees of the adjacent square because I like much better and make the place greener.
Some paths intersect then ever so that I would rather speak here of a "Mickey Mouse course". Small and compact, so to speak, which you should play, when on the Fuerteventura Golf Club is too much going on or you do not have enough time for it (here I have used for 18 holes only 3 hours).
Again, the bunkers were in an underground state. Furthermore, the lack of water in the water hazards - to be seen the blue pool looks really ugly. A large part of the surrounding villas still seems to wait for the Interior - somehow it looks quite beautiful here to Invest ruin.

Well visited place, nice and compact and neat created!

In November 2012, the Las Salinas GC presented in the season in good condition, the par 71 course is well laid out, but sometimes the tracks are quite close together, so the neighboring train like a "OOB" (ie off) applies. Especially on track 3, which is also home to the tee track 6 golfers cross the other track the tee because it means careful. Lane 6 again has the right to houses, but left the fairway of the web 2 is considered OOB.
Lane 3 shows a peculiarity - Drives can quite easily left spoiled land in an old shooting bunker on the fairway is in the middle - a relic from the last days of the war. Well, yes golf comes from the military... The tee boxes are usually close to the green of the respective precursor web, it can be the (short) course run very well without trolley or card. I liked the design well-liked, especially the separation of the individual tracks from each other by large black gravel sections where cacti grow (even from there can continue playing).

The club house is slightly elevated, you can see almost the whole place and during the game you have beautiful views of the sea. Unfortunately ansetze ligands for landing aircraft disturb - next door to the Fuerteventura GC but even more (since they are still lower). The driving range and practice green just before tea are OK 1 token for 45 balls cost 3, - €.

Conclusion: the price (also 66, - €) worth, I would certainly rather play it again as the next door Fuerteventura GC, mainly because I like the system better, the greens are fair and done in the bunkers would be as least as there sand on Bolivar...

Nice place, but very short

Place to play nice, but the tracks are very short. Therefore, a good result possible. Men's Yellow has the 5200 meters, some water hazards and the course is flat. Condition of the course is ok, staff is nice and the club house has a view of the entire place.
