Signature Hole: Hole 7

Like everywhere in this region, it is well maintained and has interesting, fast greens. The clubhouse is between the first and second nine, so it is easier to reach in heavy rain. We liked all the par-3 holes very much. There is plenty of staff and everyone is friendly. After the round we had lunch in the clubhouse, which is recommended.

Everything said above

Everything has actually been said above.
Of note: The dune grass, gorse bushes and sea views are more lush and therefore more exciting than Royal Troon.
For me the No. 1 in the Ayr/Troon area

Western Gailes on 26.4.2019

Wind, rain, cold.
No caddy.
3-Flight.
On our own, equipped with a good (free) Birdiebook in the friendly friendly little Proshop, we go to this ancient Linkscourse. Between the railway line and the Atlantic lies a breathtaking golf course in front of us.
The starter gives us tips on how to best play the course in today's wind conditions. The frontnine gegenan, the backnine with tailwind, if not until then has rotated ... ;-)
The fairways are fast and loyal despite the declining rain. Everywhere lurk deep bunkers, broom bushes and plenty of heather. The greens wonderfully undulating and super fast. Also some blind deductions and approximations are to be mastered. With proper consideration of the strong wind and the track conditions unusual lengths are to be experienced. Due to the fast greens the roll goes far beyond the flag position. Good tactical game is rewarded very fair here.
After a great round we strengthen ourselves in the old stylish club restaurant (lunch included, jeans no go !!!) and sum up a great golfing experience.
Absolutely recommendable!
