Now you're talking

I've been to Gleneagles twice and on both occasions have had a fabulous time. Great golf courses and staff. Will be going back soon.

A true king among the parklands

King's Course - Played mid-June 2024, HCP 16

The Kings Course is a fairly hilly parkland course in a beautiful, wide, open landscape. Unfortunately it is a walking only course - so there are no carts to hire.

The layout is exciting, each track is unique – very varied!

As befits such a luxury playground, the condition of the area is sensationally good!

Difficult to play nonetheless - it is steeply uphill and downhill in places, huge bunkers, more than a man's height, are everywhere and the rough is VERY deep (often = ball loss). Water hazards only come into play very occasionally. The course is mostly fair, the fairways are easy to see, blind shots over a hill are only very rarely necessary - but behind them the fairway is also in the expected place.
The greens are moderately undulating, quite fast and in some places simply HUGE.

The peace and quiet throughout the place is pleasant – no annoying airplanes or nearby traffic. Wonderful!

It's a shame that the club restaurant "Dormy House" cannot currently keep up with the high standards of the complex - slow service, very average, Indian-style food at VERY above-average prices.

Conclusion: The whole thing has its price, of course – a good EUR 170 in the late afternoon. Birdie book, logo pitchfork and classy bag tag included. Still, you should definitely play (even repeatedly)!
A solid 4 stars. (In the “Golf Bear Ranking”: 8 out of 10 points.)

2022 Good condition

August 2022 good maintenance condition, very good moderately fast greens, nice starter.
Facility with a long history of tournaments, a well-stocked pro shop, an impressive atmosphere that you also pay generously for.
Not as scenic as Kings or Queenscourse. Disturbing road that can be heard on most holes.
Food in the clubhouse bistro miserable and too expensive.
