This is now one of the golf course that you can play at most as a fitness training on foot.
It is on several Holes a sparkling clean Carry - from 150 to 180 yards - necessary to ever get on the fairway. Not even then you are sure to have the ball playable again. Narrow landing zones and hanging fairways can lead to awkward game situations.
Not the terrain of the course is the big challenge, but the terrain.
But you will be compensated that you can play golf almost in the middle of nature. The College Blvd leads through the complex - which is deeply buried - over a high bridge you reach the other holes. What a little annoying is the occasional aircraft noise, holes 5 and 6 are right next to the runway of the McClellanPalomar Airport of Carlsbad.
Bring enough balls and a good deal of humility, otherwise it ends in frustration.
