Played the Old Course in April, 2011 (perfect weather)! You definitely need a caddy on the course as many holes crisscross from front to back nines and share common greens. An experience of a lifetime walking some of the same footsteps and fairways of the greatest golfers in history! If you're in Scotland you have to play the Old Course! The Old Tom Morris bridge on the 18th fairway was the location for my group of 18 to capture a memory of a lifetime!

We had the privilege of playing an "Advanced Tee Time" at the OldCourse in July 2024.
What can I say, the setting of St. Andrews and the history of the course speak for themselves.
The feeling when teeing off at tee 1 (pulse 180) and preparing on the exclusive putting green with dozens of spectators is very exclusive.
The old course was surprisingly "easy" to play, as the rough wasn't really "voracious". The greens and the hidden fairway bunkers are certainly the main theme of the course.
We had booked a caddie who was a great help, especially on the fairway, to help us avoid the pot bunkers as much as possible.
The scenery from the 17th hole onwards is unbeatable and you play towards the 18th to the cheers of the happy hour Americans on the roof terrace of the Rusackshotel.

The visit to the "Home of Golf" will remain unforgettable, especially when at sunset on the 18th run of the Old Course the view across to the clubhouse and the surrounding town. I never used a Caddy during the three stays in St. Andrews, the contact with the Greenkeepers and starters was always excellent and characterized by great friendliness and laxity. Conclusion: Nothing for "competition / and fast players", but something for connoisseurs who do not mind that you have to even share a double green with the oncoming flight.
