Sabie River Sun Golf Course
1.0 of 5 starsReviewed January 7, 2021
Played Golf here 2 years ago and was very happy, played this week again and we paid R470 as affiliated visitors which I found excess based on the condition of the Course. Most of the greens are in a bad state. No marshall on duty, will not encourage my friends to make a trip to the course. Was definitely not value for what we paid.

Jewel in the Lowveld

A most challenging and beautiful laid out course that stands up to the best in the Country!! Fantastic scenery and enough water, trees and bunkers to keep a hacker really busy.
Fairways in a very good shape and so also the greens. Nice pathways to walk and drive with a golf cart between holes. Staff is just great.
A must for any golfer visiting the Lowveld (and an added bonus the Park is 20 minutes drive away - Phambeni gate)

Nice layout but poorly kept and maintained

You can go here for the scenery but definitely not to play golf. The greens were redone a couple of years ago but since then and even now the condition is the worst I have ever seen anywhere in the world. This is so surprising that one would not have expected this from a major five star hotel like the Sun. You cannot refer to these as greens it is full of patches and bumpy and the overall course is very poorly maintained. The hotel spent a lot of money in building cart paths, landscaping etc but they have left the course in the dumps. Go there for something else but not to play golf as you will be very disappointed just like we were.

Were here in March 18, very nicely laid out, the 17 over the hippos to green, unbelievable!
Greens cared a bit slow but faithful, always worth the money 1100.- SAR for two incl Cart and drinks for the round. Changing room very well. Catering ok,

Very nice place without greens

Place is very nice layout to. Also the numerous water hazards make the game very exciting and challenging.
Unfortunately there were with us the greens (if you could call the Greens) does not exist (in many other things. However, it was by the well stuck reduced green fees, what the situation into perspective again( 170 Edge instead of 600).
What falls into negative weight is not the presence of a driving range.
Clubhouse (rather Club hut) is very personable.

Beautiful scenery

On our trip through South Africa we played this place. The scenery is beautiful. Unfortunately, the maintenance condition of the place is not very good. The greens are dry and very bumpy, the fairways long and not very well kept.
For better care of the state space for each ambitious golfer is a challenge and definitely makes a lot of fun.
