Too expensive, badly managed, nobody cares

It's a nice links course in a beautiful hilly setting. fun to play. hard to play with strong winds. good fairways, OK greens. OK facilities.
The negative points are: at 90£ per player... the toilets at half way were locked (one has to ask for a key at the pro shop). the toilets in the locker rooms were beyond words dirty, in the morning before the start and still in the afternoon after 18 holes played. the restaurant food does not meet the expectations at all.
And on the very top: we had three 8-ball-flights before us (a organised golf tour), yes eight!!!
Guess who cared about slow play: nobody.
So very mixed feelings. most likely, never again.

Old course:
The old old course on the outskirts with its own small starter/pay house should not be overlooked!
The lanes 1,2,3,4,16,17,18 are right on the rocky coast!
Some of the small greens are dramatically beautiful on the cliffs, often par 3 or short par 4! The remaining lanes 5-15 are on a small hill! £12 for the 18 hole green fee!!!
River course:
Well maintained and a beautiful 18-hole course is the River Course, which brings some lanes very close to the River Bann! Always worth playing!
Beach course:
1-9 is pure dune drama!!!
So far I've only played such a dune links in Ballybunion, Cruden Bay or Carne! You can't stop being amazed and taking photos! Downhill - uphill, pot bunkers, waves and lightning-fast greens! The 10-18 are also Top Links lanes, but can't keep up with the first 9!
Nevertheless, one understands that the Irish Open took place here 3 years ago!
All in all, Portstewart is a 5 star links resort at its best!

The clubhouse is impressive, but guests and members are strictly separated. But that did not bother us, since the staff were really really nice.
