Dry fairways, bad greens.
1.0 of 5 starsReviewed March 13, 2017
If you're looking to have a decent round on a nice course don't go to Palm Hills. Greens are dramatically sloped so that you'll find it difficult stopping the ball by the hole. Expect several 3 putts if you are a single digit handicapper.
Often the rough is dry and unmowed should you get off the fairway slightly. The course just isn't in good shape.
When you consider the average foursome is spending $500 US you would think the owners would be smart enough to keep the course up. They aren't. And that attitude is everywhere around the course.

Solid place to start your holiday but very crowded
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed April 1, 2024
Played 3/4/24. The Palm Hills Golf Club is located north of the center of Hua Hin, practically in the immediate vicinity of the small airport (two planes landed there during our round) a little inland. You drive through the gated access to the resort and then about 2 km to the clubhouse. The signage is good. The resort is very large. However, many of the properties and houses are for sale. The development around the golf course is subtle; you play past a few stately villas. The clubhouse is large, attractive and relatively modern. There is an attached restaurant (not used). When you come from the parking lot, you first go to the Caddymaster, hand in your bags and give your start time. At the top of the pro shop you pay your green and caddy fees before you go to the starter house with the voucher. Here you will meet your caddy lady. The pro shop is relatively large and well equipped, and the employees are friendly. The standard green fee is currently 2,500 Bath (€65). The caddy fee is 350 Bath (9 €) + at least, the same amount is given as a TIP for the caddy lady after the round. The cart costs 650 Bath per player, with the caddy lady driving the cart and not the players. There is a driving range where you can take a swing. For 40 Bath you get 30 balls. The balls are apparently found balls and are already a bit worn. But totally fine for hitting. The course is absolutely flat, contrary to what the name Palm Hills suggests. There are some water hazards and bunkers but overall no real highlights. Most of the tees are very open and even warped balls are easy to find. Overall, the condition was okay. Certainly not a meadow but absolutely playable. The place is well suited to get used to the climatic conditions. Most players take a buggy, but you can also walk. The caddy ladies we had only spoke limited English, but overall they were good and friendly. Although they often type on their cell phones during breaks and occasionally make phone calls, unfortunately that is now “normal”. In any case, the tips on reading green were valuable. And the greens are the star on the course. Almost all of them are heavily undulated, fast and difficult to read. Unfortunately, three putts were the order of the day despite the caddy tips. The place was very full at our game. The starts are every 8 minutes and so what has to come with one flight of four after the other happened. We had a start time of 1:00 p.m. and were only able to start 30 minutes late. There were usually further waiting times on the PAR 3, so the round took 4.5 hours. There were three of us but there were almost only flights of four in front of us. There are aid stations and toilets throughout the round. You can buy drinks and usually something to eat there too. However, we were probably so late that all the sandwiches were already sold out or there weren't any available that day. All in all, a good opening round for us to start 8 rounds of golf at 8 different courses in Hua Hin.

Be sure to train caddies!
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed January 30, 2024
Course played on January 30th, 2024 Simple layout, green OK, I can't rate the bunker because it wasn't visited.
What prevented a better rating are the caddies. Mine couldn't speak any English except for the left / right / up / down words that were difficult to understand. But the biggest problem was that people always drove up. I held my caddy back several times. And my wife's caddy was promptly hit in the leg by a female teammate. Painful for the caddy and the person who caused it stopped 3 holes later.
Learning effect: Zero, the journey continued.

Very easy
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed December 29, 2022
Have played the course yesterday. Very easy not long and average groomed. Driving range very unkempt, like a field and you have to pay for the ancient balls. Restaurant was good. Caddy very friendly and spoke good English. We will not play the course again.

Very scenic with views of the mountains; Well maintained place;
Not difficult to play; we ran with female caddies; very nice but not professionals.
We gave each lady 400 baht on recommendation All in all a successful round 😀.

Impeccable Place
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed January 14, 2019
Impeccable fairways, beautiful fairways, good bunkers - an impeccable place. From the penultimate men's tee (yellow) about 5,720 m long, not too difficult, in the second nine holes, the greens are a bit unfair - almost oblique.
The greens generally relatively fast, but not as great as the top spots.

Was fun...
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed November 19, 2017
We played a couple of places in Hua Hin in November 2017:
10.11. Lake View (B = Lake and D = Link)
11.11. Royal Hua Hin
11.12. Palm Hills
11.14. Majestic Creek
Here's something to Palm Hills;
A very nice place, varied, some Wasserhinderdernis especially on the first 9 holes. In any case, it was a lot of fun. A rewarding round.
Overall, fairways and greens were in very good condition. Annoying but not to circumvent is the compulsory obligation of a caddy who (rightly, the, as the exclusively ladies) was very hard-working, but spoke as good as no English. Please always include the additional 300 TBH as an "expected" tip. Only in Majestik was openly pointed out, expected and partly demanded on all squares.
Toll: Preset table available in the Pro Shop. Rather an exception, but very good...
Accompanied by a "non-golfer" was no problem and also free. Which is not the rule. So this is forbidden in the Royal and cost in Majestik 400 TBH extra.
Material and also green fees we have a local rental. A full set (Cobra Iron with Graphite R, Callaway Woods and an Odyssey Putter Pro 2) for 500 TBH per day and some 30% discount on green fees were decisive. There are several rentals, we have borrowed at "Fairways Hua Hin" 1 / 11Sasong Road.
We still lacked some of the places around Hua Hin, especially the "hip" Bayan and Black Mountain we have deliberately spared, but overall Hua Hin is indeed a rewarding golf destination.
About Hua Hin as a holiday resort may omit others, for us that was more Tourifang than authentic Thailand.

Beautiful plant
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed January 7, 2016
A place that you can play more often. The layout is fair, the railways partly slightly hilly, difficult to play without caddy with certainty because there are a few doglegs and moats. The greens, I found very difficult because they were hardly assess as regards break and speed. Downhill putts quasi unfeasible, even tapping the ball made him roll yards. Although much was going on that day, we arrived at a good time on the lap. Go green fee I can say that we have paid a total of 6250 Bht for 2 people with a cart and 2 caddies, so you have the green fees well lowered again.

Too expensive
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed February 25, 2013
The green fee has been increased to 3,500 baht (€ 87.50). For an average Thai golf course too expensive. Have been carried out, so there is no explanation for the increase in green fee no innovations. Perhaps only that the number of golf tourists in Hua Hin will be asked to pay. The two new golf courses Banyan and Black Mountin are even slightly cheaper and excellent Golfplätzer.

Interesting place

Many bunkers and super fast greens make the game a bit difficult. It's still fun to play on the otherwise very neat place. Organizational skills in order.

Great place and good design fuers money
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed October 15, 2011
My predecessor has described it perfectly!
Bunkers are super bad and Gruen are just hanging on what does not really start having fun on hole 18!
Otherwise schoenes design and plenty of water but always fair created!
Let's say it this way, a lot of fun and could get 5 stars if not clear the bunkers and the Gruen would be so!
Lots of love and good game!

Interesting place with lots of water hazards
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed October 6, 2011
many water hazards, well maintained fairways, greens very fast and almost all with passion and therefore difficult to "read" bunker very hard, washed out and therefore normal barely playable, despite all a very good value for money
