A hiding gem golf course in Thailand

I went to this course as introduced by my Thai friend. course is 1.30 hours from Phuket airport by car but the road is ok and safe to travel. club house is huge and nice as Chino-Euro style. fully facilities was prepared such as locker room, restaurant, free Wifi, kiosks, driving range and accommodations.
Katathong course was transformed from the old Tin ming, then the layout is quite outstanding with a big pond and narrow fairways. it is a bit difficult for beginner but it is challenging course compared to some courses in Phuket. it is worth to visit. hole no. 11, is great Par 5 with 531 yards by white pin. we had to hit downhill across the pond to the fairway. hole no. 10 Par 3 is a signature hole, we had to hit downhill into the island green. on the other hand, the uniqure hole should be hole no. 17, upto the hill. we had to hit up to the green on a 20-feet hill. i never seen such as hole like this... amazing. sure i will come back here again soon.
The best Golf Course in Phang-nga

This is a hiding gems golf course, it just 1.15 hrs drive from Phuket airport. the layout is quite difficult for beginners, fairways are narrow as being from old Tin mining. the back nine holes are very good especially hole no. 16/17/18. once you are in Phang-nga or phuket, you must come to visit here

My ratings of a golf course are based on the following standards: course layout and condition of the greens, course maintenance, especially with regard to the playability of the bunkers, condition of the fairways, etc.
Little or not at all the secretariat and pro shop, certainly not the caddies and the other "annoying" players.
The layout of Katathong can be rated with 4-5 stars, whereby I particularly liked the par 3 holes of the 8th and 10th.
A hole for me was the par 3 of 17; around 140 m long (white) but it goes up around 50 m to a green that is not visible. From the women's tee 80 m long and 50 m high (?)!
The greens were the big disappointment. Hole 1 and 15 extremely full of holes with some large depressions. Grass dull, bumpy, the ball rarely took on the undulation. Many greens were simply mowed too deep by the greenkeeper and there were a lot of bare spots - other greens have great places.
Fairways not in top condition either, bunkers bad and extremely washed out - was there heavy rain the day before?
Unfortunately it wasn't worth the journey of around 1:45!

We drove to the resort from Robinson Club Khao Lak for an hour. For green fee, cart and racket we paid € 3950 per person. A really great in the topography of the mountain built place. Especially hole 10,17 and 18 are really cool to play. A nice halfway house, great greens and nice caddies make this place a great golfing experience. For the totally delicious food in the club restaurant there was a voucher of 200 Bath with the green fee.

We were a small group on the way in Robinson Club Khao Lak and have played this place five times. Here someone has built a fantastic golf course in the middle of the "jungle"!
Everything at its finest. Very beautiful place, excellent condition, extremely fast greens. Very varied layout.
Excellent and very chic caddies. One of our two spoke very good English and even a bit of German. The other spoke only a little English. Both are very nice and a bit more service oriented than at the places on Phuket (including Red Mountain).
Overall, this resort offers an incredible, genuine friendliness from all sides. You realize right that people are happy that you made it to Katathong.
Everything is at least 30% cheaper than on Phuket.
Delicious Thai food in the restaurant.
Absolutely go there, even if it is about 1.5 hours drive from the northern resorts on Phuket.

Got a tip from a friend. I must say that we (4 people) were all very impressed. It really fit from the pickup at the hotel (Khao Lak) above the reception at the golf club, the place, the clubhouse through to repatriation everything!!! I can make this place each only recommend (for all Hcp`s). Place in perfect condition, friendly caddies, who is also a bit about the golf and speak English. I hope the rest of the system will be ready soon. Come play safely again.
