Characteristics
The golf course of Ptuj is really something special because of its varied terrain and several water hazards. The course spreads over an area of 50 ha and distinguishes itself especially because of greens and sheets of water. The river Studencnica and two lakes accompany 15 of 18 fields. The greens are at one with the old town centre and the authentic fauna and flora harmonises with Ptuj's natural environment.

Based on the previous reviews, we had the worst fears. But it is definitely not as bad as described. The first nine should be played without a driver or only with irons. The holes are short enough to score well without a driver. Tight, tight first nine.
The back nine is great to play and has a very nice layout. The brave can attack the green on hole 10 across the pond.
Conclusion: a wonderful place with a great price/performance ratio.

Great greens

Compared to our last visit, this time on a very nice but windy day, a lot has improved.
The greens were in great condition, fast, true to the line and very well maintained. Fairways so-so, some fairways very nice, others unfortunately poor with too little grass. Rough very toxic, extremely dense, just about playable. Bunkers a bit hard but OK.
The course from the "white" tee is a monster, especially in today's wind conditions, so we played from the "yellow". From this tee the course is very short, but okay!
Very narrow fairways characterize the course, defensive play is better.
The course is rated as very easy, but for me it was difficult enough, as there are always water hazards and the very narrow fairways make the score skyrocket.

Three years after our last round we played the course again on a slightly rainy day. Many bald spots on the fairways and some very poor greens spoiled the game a bit for us. Place quite deep due to recent rains.
Bunker to play very well, tee boxes okay.
Space is still very tight, nothing has changed about that.
€ 65, - for a round of golf is clearly too expensive!
Secretariat okay, cosiness of the "cafes/restaurant" rather an impertinence, whether there was anything edible was not determined, we didn't see the kitchen.
