Water features in Nampont St Martin
2.0 of 5 starsReviewed May 11, 2022
We played the Les Cygnes course in mid-May 2022. First the positive aspects from our point of view. Very friendly welcome! Funny DR - you intentionally hit balls into the pond in front of the moated castle. So to speak, attunement to what awaits you in the next few hours. And yes - the ambience around the dilapidated castle is charming. Perhaps the most interesting thing: for the regular GF you can play both courses (Belvedere and Cygnes) in one day.
Unfortunately, there are also a number of points of criticism. The majority of the place was in a below-average maintenance condition. The tea boxes in particular had apparently not been mowed for weeks (partly covered with daisies). Except for a few greens around the castle, the greens were in poor condition (fungus) and very slow.
The layout appears to be a little "homegrown". It starts with the fact that the putting/chipping green is right next to the green of hole 18. Highly dangerous! No golf course architect would plan like that. Both the tracks and the routing are - to put it mildly - unusual. There are no tee boards and no birdie book. Only on the score card are the courses of the lanes shown in the smallest format and unfortunately do not adequately reflect the circumstances. The round often becomes a guessing game as to how the track actually goes. And the hints about the "next tee" are mostly hidden and come too late.
All in all, mainly members play here - guests rather less. For those who like to shove the ball around in a quiet environment, are not afraid of losing the ball due to the massive amount of water and like to play 2 courses in one day (carts are available), this is the course of choice.
For more athletic contemporaries who are looking for a fair challenge and require a well-kept course, there are plenty of alternatives on the Cote Opal (Hardelot, Le Touquet, Wimmereux, Dunkerque, etc.).
Conclusion: You can - but you don't necessarily have to play it

A 36 hole course in an "almost" deserted place. To the right and left of a small water chateau are 18 holes each.
LES CYGNES (18 holes):
Actually, the very simple, bunkerless course lives only from the holes 1,2,3,4,14,15,16,17,18 that wind around the water and around the "back" of the chateau. Very simple design, country style, good greens far too long fairways. *** 3 stars (third star only because of the water chateau, the rest, unfortunately, has come down and seems uninhabited)!
LE BELVÉDÈRE (18 holes):
A beautiful, solid parkland course with an old tree stand and some picture book par 3 holes! Clearly the better place in Nampont St. Martin! ***Stars!

Good tour but to improve.

Les Cygnes preferred route. Completely flat, the water comes in many holes.
It seems precarious economic situation. simple bar. Locker rooms terrible, to avoid.
You pay € 50/60 and the taste is bittersweet.

Thank you for your review that we treat very seriously.
We regret that you came on the bar closing day. On wednesday. I hope you were informed.
Effectively, our locker rooms are very basic for the moment but it is expected to improve.
We invite you to play the belvédère course. The course is very interesting and tricky.
Did we inform you that for this price you could have played both 18 holes?
Hope seeing you.
