The best golf course according Golf Digest - a BAD joke.

I have played here between 20-22.01.2019. Price : 700 Drh, for 18 holes (1.300, for 2 rounds and 1.900 for 3 rounds). Caddie : 15 €, or trolley : 10 €. One of them is mandatory, as it looks like.
Pro : you get an invitation for 2 persons for Lunch / Dinner in Casino Atlantic, for every round played. Staff people : friendly.
Pro Shop : almost good, a little bit overpriced. There is a shuttle, you don’t need a taxi! Repeat : YOU DON’T NEED A TAXI!
CONS :
- the place is a MESS! There are holes without any sign, there are holes (especially PAR 3) where the distance has nothing to do with registered in signs, or scire card. Stroke index - absolutely hillarious!
- Caddies are very low quality, they are ready to cheat you. Keep eyes on your belongins!
- the greens are bold, on a few places
- tee times? What are those? Nobody cares about them, when the people is coming, there are crowds and everything is absolutely crush.
- pace of play? Who cares about it?
- is called golf DE L’ OCEAN... but there is no ocean there!!!
- restaurant? It was something menu of the day on 22nd : some fish, some risotto and some desert - 140 Drh. Go to Casino ATLANTIC : much better choice!
There are 3 x 9 holes : Dumes, Desert & Garden. I would think Desert & Garden is the most difficult combination.
I quit after 3 rounds and I went to Tazegzout GOLF CPURSE, which is really A GOLF COURSE!
As far as I heard... Du Soleil and The Dunes are really worser than de l’ Ocean, so...
PS : I would suggest for Golf Digest to play golf ob Mazagan GC, or Tazegzout GC, and after that... we will speaking about “ the best golf course in Morrocco “...

Completely agree with Bodenma

We played this course on January 28,2025.
I completely agree with Bodenma's assessment. It's a shame about this course, which has a beautiful design but unfortunately looks very neglected. Especially the 9 holes of the Dunes with their defective irrigation system. These should be avoided at all costs.
The owner is far away and doesn't seem to care much as long as green fees are still being sold.

Not playing!

First the essentials:

Don't play the course. It's not worth the money. If I'm in Agadir again I definitely won't book there. I would also recommend that to anyone else planning a trip there to play golf.

If you want to know more precisely why, please read on.

First things first: the staff are friendly and helpful, the caddies are OK, the pro shop is well stocked and the terrace is inviting after the round. But the food in the restaurant is where the shortcomings begin. What you are served is not really that good.

But things get really drastic when you evaluate the essence of a golf course - namely the courses. The three 9-hole courses of the l'Ocean course - Dunes (blue), Desert (red) and Garden (yellow) actually have a good layout.

But things get really bad when it comes to the condition of the courses. There is usually no flat spot on the tee boxes. Everything is somehow “bulged” and when it is flat, there is often no grass left, just sand.

It's a similar story on the fairways. There are many bare patches here, where continuing to play is like playing from a wasteland. Good shots on a fairway then immediately become potential failures for players of my skill level. We decided to always look for a patch of grass nearby to better place the ball. That's not so easy with so many large bare patches. Another thing that the bare patches are causing is that the balls tend to roll long distances into the semi-rough or even beyond.

This is where the next challenge begins. The semi-rough is relatively high, which makes finding balls difficult. This is often made virtually impossible by the leaves lying around everywhere. It would be helpful if at least the leaves were regularly blown off the fairway or semi-rough.

Finding balls that have made it past the semi-rough and are lying under trees is a matter of luck. The leaves lying everywhere, trunks and branches that have been cut but not removed make it impossible to find balls or continue playing. There is also a lot of rubbish in these areas - especially empty plastic bottles.

Of course I know that balls should be played on the fairway, but if you don't manage that, you're lost. It's not really fun.

I would also like to mention the "quicksand-like" conditions in some places. For example, if you go from the green of hole 6 to the tee of hole 7 on the Dunes course, you have to pass through a spot like this. If you have to push a trolley through there, it's only possible with a lot of effort. And there are some spots like that.

Finally, a note about the sprinklers installed for watering the course. These obviously have to be turned on and off using manual valves. A greenkeeper seems to be responsible for this. Until he has driven around the course and done this everywhere, it can happen that on some holes you have to get your ball out of the area where the sprinklers are still running so that you don't get wet while you carry on playing. Unfortunately, many of the installed sprinklers no longer rotate, so some areas are constantly flooded as long as the irrigation is running.

A lot would have to be done everywhere to justify the current green fees.

All in all, a facility with potential, but not an option given its current state of maintenance.
