Dundonald Links is situated in Ayrshire on the West Coast of Scotland, a stretch of golfing terrain unrivalled in the world. This Kyle Phillips’ designed links has hosted the prestigious Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open and Ladies Scottish Open in 2017, the first course to host both the gents and ladies’ tournaments back to back and is now recognised as one of Golf’s “must play” courses.
The generous fairways and undulating greens partnered with a wide choice of teeing options offers a challenging and enjoyable test of golf to players of all abilities. Its coastal location and links conditions allows this golfing experience all year round.

Wonderful, athletically challenging links course

A wonderful round of golf on a links course that is in almost perfect condition. The golf course is beautifully nestled between Western Gale and Kilmarnock in the Prestwick golf region, around 30 minutes west of Glasgow. It has an interesting layout, a modern facility, the hazards are exactly where they should be, but are still fair and easy to play. However, we had atypically little wind and wonderful weather! On some holes, such as #3, you have to play tactically cleverly, often leave the driver in your pocket and place it well. The greens are difficult but fair and (as usual) often slope towards the edge, so clean shots are required. Rental clubs are of the highest quality, and the staff in the pro shop and restaurant are extremely courteous and friendly. For us, it was an all-round wonderful day of golf. If I remember correctly, the course was also the venue for the Women's Scottish Open this year!

For me, the course was the most beautiful in this region. It is not located at the front by the sea, however, but in the second row, partly behind the Western Gailes course. Large, wide fairways, the entire course is in great condition. Dunes border each hole. You can regularly master double breaks on the greens. The pot bunkers are challenging, especially the one behind the green on hole 11. For women, this is definitely the most beautiful pro shop in Ayrshire.

After being taken over by an investor and the construction of a spacious clubhouse, the facility impresses with its very good condition and huge, interesting greens. It's not for nothing that the course was the venue for the Lady British Open 2023 and the final qualifying for the Open 2024!
The reception and the starter were also extremely nice.
Unfortunately the railway line and Western Gailes Links still lie between Dundonald and the sea.
