Surprise
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed August 1, 2023
On our annual trip to Adamstal we always play course before and it has to be one none of us ever played. This year I choose Ottenstein. Many years we were passing bye and had no idea that there is such a great course. Course its very easy to find its close to the highway. Parking lot is big enough and next to club house and training areas. It also offer today standard, charging for EV.
Check in was very pleasant, staff was really professional and help a lot. We took a deal fee and lunch for 10 Eur, can only recommend cause lunch had 3 courses and was very tasty. AS always we did not go to training areas however they were close and big enough. Putting green showed the quality and speed of the future putts and we liked it. Now to 1st tee. From the start I enjoy it. Course was not easy but many interesting shots, not a losing balls here unless you put it in water hazard. Front nine is more for long hitters and kind of warm up nine. I enjoyed better the back nine, up and down shots you need to thing and be accurate and aware about your distance. If I have to choose signature hole I would probably pick some on back nine. Maybe hole number 11 cause its blind shot and it push you to be fearless.
Anyway I enjoy the whole course and quality of it, as well as 19th hole. You can take also dog on the course so that is one star more from my side. Definitely coming back one day.

Disappointing
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed September 2, 2024
We played the course again after 20 years and were disappointed. A lot has changed since then and it is now a leading golf course. But there is more to it than a new name and a new owner. I'll start with the positives: the restaurant and service are first class and highly recommended, the reception and check-in are OK, the course is beautifully green. It is not well maintained, the fairways are not mown, the greens are unkempt and slow. Above all, you can never stand straight on the course, not only are there steep uphill and downhill sections, but most of the fairways are very steep. We certainly won't play here again, even though we had an excellent meal.

Once a year is enough
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed August 24, 2024
Well, I imagine something different when I think of LEADING! It is an average place in the middle of nowhere.
If you book a tee time and a cart 6 days in advance, it should work out. Neither! As it was a weekday, I was lucky and was able to play with a nice couple. The cart was also free - highly recommended in this heat. Nice gesture from reception and a pleasant day of golf.

One of the best overall golf packages
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed July 28, 2023
First of all, Ottenstein is located in a beautiful area, which is why it is worth driving there. In addition, on really hot summer days you can enjoy the fact that it is 5-10 degrees cooler in the Waldviertel than in the city. You will be greeted in a friendly manner on site and everything will run smoothly. Exercise facilities are excellent. Course is not one of the longest, but very varied and quite treacherous. Course maintenance: wonderful, brisk greens, juicy fairways (this summer!) and if you land in the rough, you should forget the ball... If you have mastered the course with decency, you will be rewarded with one of the best golf restaurants in Austria, sitting in one Terrace with stunning views and enjoys. It seems the owner is starting to expand towards the golf resort, revitalizing a neighboring building and rumored chalets are coming. One can only hope that the characteristics of the course in the largely untouched nature will not suffer as a result.

Well

We played the golf course at the end of July, the course is well maintained and has some nice holes too. But once a year is enough for me. Restaurant, shop, carts and training facilities available. Very positive: dogs allowed!

A place in the middle of nature
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed September 7, 2021
We played the course at the beginning of September 2021 and found a hilly golf course in the middle of the beautiful Waldviertel. The fairways with some water hazards (ponds) are wonderfully integrated into the landscape. The golf course is varied and the greens are fast, well maintained and on track. The fairways, however, were partly in poor condition. Anyone looking for a relaxed round of golf is in good hands here. Restaurant and service top!

Beautiful Place
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed October 14, 2018
Great, varied fairways in a beautiful area in the Waldviertel characterize this place, whereby the good kitchen is to be mentioned.
Space is not particularly difficult, but there are always lurking dangers through small ponds and strategically placed bunkers.
For me, the most beautiful holes were the heavy Par 5 course 4 as well as hole 12.
The reductions could be improved, the greens were also not very fast and a bit rough / uneven.
Everything could be improved, then in any case 5 stars!

Morning exercise in June 2018
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed July 4, 2018
Club Ottenstein is quietly and secluded in the Waldviertel in a hilly low mountain landscape. The 18 tracks are varied and very interesting embedded in the landscape. Teeboxen, fairways and greens in excellent condition, each hole a new challenge to play, quite challenging overall. We were forced to start at 7.00 in the morning for a tournament. Has proven to be a great pleasure and absolutely worth it. Very nice club secretary, Albrecht 2 for 1 coupon... makes 5 stars.

An interesting place
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed June 24, 2018
After each hole you are curious about the next one. For technically savvy players interesting, for anyone else with frustration potential, because mistakes can quickly lead to ball loss. Well maintained facility. Gastro top, which should not be left out. Nice audience. Gladly again.

A round thing
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed June 13, 2018
Since the last reviews about Ottenstein a lot has happened: The very attractive course presents itself in quite appealing condition, only the greens are very slow and visibly longer not mowed and rolled. Also in suboptimal condition: the bunker. Hard, hardly any sand. Thus the negative criticism is already ticked off. Otherwise, it is a tricky place, often tight, often you can not see the flag and strategic game is quite necessary. The scenery is sexy and the people incredibly friendly and nice. The restaurant is known and fully meets the quality standards. All in all a round thing and go there more than worth.

Greens: not enough
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed July 8, 2016
The course approaches a remarkable reputation of being the higher the expectations. Clubhouse, reception, training area, fairways and the trappings keep the promise, the bigger the disappointment of the greens, in contrast to other space hard as concrete and in poor condition. Actually one might have expected that you will be alerted when booking, but you wanted the green fee players shoo not clear - so succeeds perfectly. Our anger was certainly large, so large that we skipped after the round to visiting the restaurants. Pity!

Light and Shadow
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed July 8, 2016
The hilly course in the southern forest district is in a great location. The holes are varied and play is entertaining. Due to the differences in height a sporting challenge. The Par4 paths are more difficult than it suggests the scorecard despite the length / brevity. The fairways and Semis are maintained, from the rough must stay away anyway. The greens are very undulating and pimple hard. Unfortunately the greens in very bad condition, not ironed and moguls were obviously aerifiziert recently. Noting there was not the Secretariat unfortunately. This fits nor to the place like some white tee boxes that were not mowed.

Weak
2.0 of 5 starsReviewed April 27, 2016
Played on 21 April. the fairways were not mowed and corresponded rather a semi-rough. the semi-rough corresponded partly the rough. All in all, it has made little fun. I will therefore this place for a long time avoided because the road access is not worth there.

Our place had problems Decorator / delivery delay in equipment delivery and paired with the current growth leads to this square state. Good mix!
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed September 2, 2014
A very nice place, with very different and characteristic holes! There is something for everyone - a few flat holes with water and semi-island green, and a few wise applied to the hills tracks - an excellent mix!

For the first time! Ottenstein
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed May 7, 2012
+ Very friendly staff - both golf and restaurant area
+ Very well maintained greens
+ Very interesting and beautifully landscaped course
- Sometimes something brown and bumpy fairways - reminds me of Grado
- Poor or no description of the following teas (especially from the 9th to the 10th hole)
- To high rough (when the ball lands there you can go out usually assumed that this is hardly found)
Nevertheless, it was a beautiful day of golf and I'll definitely be back.

Beautiful semi-natural space, top restaurant
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed September 3, 2011
No freeway space, but really a lot of space around the fairways, string imbedded in idyllic nature. very varied tracks, challenging but not unfair. play the first time you will have a hard time because you do not always sees the tracks. The space maintenance is good, unfortunately you realize too dry times that irrigation system is missing. pleasant temperatures in summer because it is cooler in the glade. The restaurant is one of the best, top food and friendly control. Total pleasantly quiet, neat atmosphere.

A sophisticated, beautifully embedded in the nature 18 Hole course with an excellent restaurant. Surrounded by the unique landscape of the Waldviertel club for me is the most beautiful place in the region also due to the excellent course maintenance.
